FEEDBACK.
Fabiola Suarez:
I already watch you video, you did pretty well in your video pointed out what methodology is used on the article you choose “Fostering Students’ Critical Thinking by Project Learning”. It’s as you say a descriptive qualitative method because it uses the instruments that are used in a qualitative approach observation and interviews. I think you were explaining the methodology use well, but you let aside explain better how they use the methodology to achieve the results of the research. I mean as: who the researcher uses this methodology to achieve their findings? was there a process? Were there some stages that the researcher uses on that process?
I advice to you to use next time a headset to make your video because the quality of the sound is not the best, also I can listen your fingers typing on the keyboard or mouse and it’s a little bit annoying.
It’s my further feedback to your video. Just to highlight the most important details of your video and what do you miss from your article.
You explain clearly the concept of Project Based Learning used to promote the critical thinking of students in their process of learning about ELT methods Grammar Translation Method, Direct method, Audio Lingual Method, Suggestopedia, Silent Way, Community Language Learning, and Total Physical Responses and teaching practice. Then, you say that the method used by the researcher was Descriptive Qualitative Method, the instruments were a form observation sheet and an interview guideline and the lecturer of the course with 25 students that are the total of the population study.
Those are some important details about your article. However, there is some lack of emphasis over the research method like specify in what kind of areas this research method is used and for example explain that “the goal of descriptive research is to describe a phenomenon and its characteristics. This research is more concerned with what rather than how or why something has happened. Therefore, observation and survey tools are often used to gather data (Gall, Gall, & Borg, 2007). In such research, the data may be collected qualitatively, but it is often analyzed quantitatively, using frequencies, percentages, averages, or other statistical analyses to determine relationships.” (Nassaji, 2015) Hence, you also forgot to identify some variables in the article, like the work group, the micro teaching practice and the evaluation of the video between others.
You made well with exception of some little details about the research method used in the article. Also, you forgot present the possible advantages and challenges of use Project-based learning that were stated in your article, but in general you have a good contribution.
